Brad McQueid, creator of EverQuest , dies

The developer was 51 years old.

The death of Brad McQuade was tweeted on the Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen project he was working on recently.

It is with deep regret that we report that Brad McQuade passed away that night. 
He will be missed, and gamers around the world will always remember him.

According to the director of communications at Visionary Realms, McQueid passed away at home – no reasons are given.

McQueid is best known as a producer and game designer for MMO EverQuest, released in 1999. After he founded his own studio Sigil Games Online, which in 2007 released the MMO Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

In the last years of his life, the game designer worked on yet another MMO, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, which is considered the spiritual heir to EverQuest. Her release has not yet taken place.
