First screenshots of the text RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York

Developers believe that it will be a great "entry point" for those who are not yet familiar with the franchise.

The plot adventure of Coteries of New York in the Vampire: The Masquerade series was announced in early June, but from the details it was only known that it was a game with great emphasis on acting out a role that tells about the conflict between the vampire associations Camarilla and Anarchs.

Now the Polish studio Draw Distance, responsible for the development, showed the first screenshots and talked about the mechanics. As expected from the first artefacts, Coteries of New York is a text-based game of visual novel format.

In addition to disciplines that will help the player in tasks, and the ability to make many decisions, the game also has three indicators that are familiar to fans of the setting: hunger, humanity, and a masquerade.

As in the same Bloodlines, the player will have to satisfy hunger from time to time so that the character of his internal “Beast” does not take possession of. If this happens, then his character can lead to the loss of humanity and masquerade points.

The humanity indicator determines how close the character is to ordinary people, and on its basis the game corrects the consequences of decisions, opens up additional answers, while closing others.

Finally, a masquerade is an indicator of how well a character hides his nature from mortals. Maintaining him in the game is especially important because of the activity of the so-called Second Inquisition, pursuing vampires.

Coteries of New York will be released on PC and Switch in the last quarter of 2019. In addition to her and Bloodlines 2, a story RPG in the universe from the authors of The Council is also in development.

Adventure story in the setting of Vampire: The Masquerade will be released in late 2019 the year
