The developers of the post-apocalyptic RPG Wasteland 3 from inXile Entertainment studio reported on the project page in Fig about the imminent release of the alpha version of the game. On August 21, backers will have access to it, having chosen the First Access award ($ 75) or higher at the fundraising stage.
Basically, alpha will focus on combat mechanics: players will get under control a squad of high-level characters who will have to deal with a boss named Psychopath, who is hiding in the mountain town of Aspen.
At the same time, access to the menu of skills and perks will be blocked. InXile promises that in the full game all the required elements of a high-quality RPG will be present, but at the current stage, the battle system needs the most testing.
Developers not only do not prohibit players in the alpha version from shar ing screenshots and streams, but also offer them to do this as actively as possible.
Those players who did not have time or did not want to participate in fundraising, inXile offers to wait for the game to launch on Steam Early Access. The exact date of the appearance of Wasteland 3 in early access is still unknown. Apparently, the content in the version for Early Access will be more than in alpha.
The developers also turned to investors, backers, who took advantage of the Fig site’s opportunity to invest money in the development of the project with an aim to receive deductions from sales of the finished game.
InXX was acquired by Microsoft in 2018 and became the company’s in-house studio. The copyright for Wasteland 3 also passed to Microsoft – obviously, therefore, I had to abandon the initial scheme with paying investors interest on sales. Instead, they will receive a return on investment of 132% now.
Wasteland 3 will be released in the spring of 2020 on Steam, GOG and the Microsoft Store, as well as on the PS4 and Xbox One.
